When I invited Molly to join me on the S.S. Vulcania I realized I was taking a big chance. Actually, I wouldn’t have been surprised if she had begged to return home before we hit the first port, but as you see, she has snuggled in and set up her cabin. Molly, Henry’s dearest friend, has lived on the streets for years. I met her a few months after Henry became my muse (of sorts). They both, along with many others, use an old abandoned theater in town when the weather is particularly grim.
Although I’ve often seen the two with their heads together in earnest conversation, I have never heard Molly speak. She uses bits of her own personal sign language or relies on Henry to interpret her needs and opinions most of the time but, on occasion, she will dig deeply into a soft, quilted bag and rummage about until she finds a slip of paper, which she will offer with a shy smile. Her gift is usually a single word or, on rare occasions, a phrase or poem. Always, it is so suited to my needs that I have come to think of Molly as an oracle or as my personal and dear
“fortune cookie”.
To my great surprise, Molly has found the idea of Zentangles to her liking and, after asking for drawing paper and pens, she has dived headfirst into this delightful art form and begun to decorate her cabin with them! This first one looks a bit like her quilted “word” bag.

Decided her tangles deserved a separate page, so click here

Molly’s amazingly gifted!
Zentangles are so cool! I must try one myself! When I was in kindergarden, I would make drawings like that which I named “Design-Os”. My family laughed at me. I should have kept making Design-O’s – maybe I will start again?!?
these are great! i used to do things like this when i was in highschool. i love the different images i’m seeing in each piece, a mix of cultures and styles that come together as a perfect whole.
Thanks for visiting–Molly’s thrilled! Wish I remembered who first introduced the Zentangles. They gave me a good excuse to start drawing again and some practice in scanning and sizing, etc. As usual, I’m a decade or two behind, lol.
These zentangles are gorgeous. What lovely work.

A word bag! It will be full to overflowing here. Molly really has an amazing talent. Her Zentangles are to die for. Just beautiful.
These zentangles are gorgeous – my favourite is the word bag. I don’t know who posted about them first – it may have been me, I posted about them on my blog before christmas – I made some as christmas gifts. Great that they got you drawing again!
I love the Zentangles. They are wonderful meditations and I bet they were very calming to create. I hope Molly enjoys them as much as we enjoy them. I’m glad they were shared. I think I may well engage in some spiritual zentangles myself this evening.
My love to you,
steph

I enjoy the zentangles – sort of a combination of doodling and pen-and-ink drawings, which I love.
Wonderful!
